If you've ever wanted to chat to people using more than just words, you can with iChat2. Building on the strengths of its predecessor, you can chat over the internet, a local area network (LAN) or any other network supporting TCP/IP. As well as sending text messages to people, iChat2 allows you to represent your feelings using faces and other events, such as sounds to emphasise certain words or phrases - it even changes your "cyberface" as you type!

iChat2 is very easy to use, with a simple and uncluttered interface with only the most commonly-used controls foremost. iChat2 can be fully customised so you can add your own distinctive look and sound. Many example sounds and faces are provided, and you can add your own for custom events events and messages. The iMail2 add-in allows you send files easily to anyone online, while conducting a real-time conversation in the background.

Using iChat2 you can chat to many people at once by connecting to a iChat2 server, or you can talk one-on-one by connecting directly to another client. The server-side software of iChat2 is completely new, but the client application is an improved version of the original iChat client.

With both the client and server software available to download, you can either host your own private chat, or simply connect to another iChat2 server.
